So How is Your Production Speed?

Is it growing? Does it take less time to produce? Yes/No? Do you know why? Sure you do!

That’s great if you do know but let me explain my point of view.

So there is a production and a worker (who works with that specific production). Worker have his own working style and production have its own working plan. At one moment worker becomes familiar with production and as a result that makes him working faster. You can’t tell the same about production it self (“production becomes familiar with workers working style and start produce faster” – bulls shit…). Production it self can’t become faster if no one is doing any changes to it.

Now how fast can your worker move? Or how long he can move fast like that? Where is that workers speed coming from?

When you don’t need to look at the working plan/documents/drawings/etc and do all the job only by using your head (as a memory device) that’s when you start working really fast and faster than that is unreasonable. Of course there is some freaks that is trying to reach a light speed but is this the kind of workers that you should be looking for? NO! How can you replace him when he will be gone? Production speed will go down to critical level!

What I try to say is that you should not work on improving your workers working speed. High working speed can lead to bad consequences in the production. Speed will come naturally with experience and it doesn’t have to be a light speed to do the job. If you will always work on improving the production speed it self what is not connected with human speed and in the way that if some one else would take over he wont need to have extraordinary memory or speed of lightning to produce at a same level as before. And if process will become simple to understand and easy to do it then it will naturally become fast.

Find a ways to improve production speed because it doesn’t have any limits and avoid improving workers speed because it can lead to bad consequences. Well in case you are trying to build army of 300 Spartan then you should do opposite ;).

Less questions = more work done (period).



Have you ever been laid off? Or your contract was suspended? No, no, no you are a good worker and nobody fired you, it’s just because of market and no more orders so no more work and companies (to survive) have to take hard decisions when one of them is suspending workers.


Nobody is protected, if your company is going down, you are coming together with it. So imagine company is a sinking ship and what are you doing to survive in a sinking ship? Yes you get on a boat and leave the ship. But you are not always aware of whats happening in your working place and at which position is your “sinking ship”, so this decisions is made by captain or captains of the ship (company directors/owners).

But what is this post about? It’s about – what should you do when you get message about layoff. First think relax, cool down and don’t worry you are not fired (you are not fired!). Take a deep breath and finish working your last days with a big smile because after you will have your unplanned vacation and a lot of time for your self. Maybe there was things you never had enough time to finish or even start it? So it’s a perfect time to start it! Next blow out dust from your curriculum vitae (CV) and start to update it with new info and new recommendations.

Recommendations! Get them from your employers and foremans.


In this age looking for a new job is easier than it was 20 years ago. And don’t rush! Now you have all time only for your self, so use it. Maybe after one week, when you done all the things you wanted to do but didn’t had time for it, your ex employer will call you and ask you to come back.

And I will repeat layoff is not fired it’s a new opportunities, maybe you always  wanted to try something else but never thought about it cause you never had a time for that. And now you have time and time is the most valuable thing in the world! So use it wise and enjoy it.

Well it’s not any more a secret, because it is on youtube and most companies are using this type of system or similar. Also you can read it more on wikia or buy a book about it.

But if you want it simple just follow this two simple rules:

  • – Quality must be built in during the manufacturing process!
  • – Making only “what is needed, when it is needed, and in the amount needed!”

Employee Bonus System

A nice idea to make your employees better and at the same time earn more.

With good bonus system you can wake up a good lean manufacturing process without any knowledge of it. Workers will need to have good plan if they are interested in bonus.

How do we think lean or How Lean is Ruining My Life

I have found this blog post by Danielle McGuinness with the title ‘How Lean is Ruining My Life‘ she rights about how lean thinkers see and think. I really like the end lines: ‘In truth, I enjoy the challenges presented by the fact that I see waste (wasted time, energy, materials, resources) everywhere! It just means opportunity for improvement is plentiful in the world and there are SO many reasons for us lean thinkers to keep doing what we’re doing and share the learning with others.’
